How the Repair Process Works

Here's how a typical repair goes, from the first visit to the final walkthrough.

  1. 01

    Inspect the Damage

We'll take a look at the damaged areas, determine what needs to be repaired, and answer any questions you have.

  2. 02

    Prepare Your Repair Estimate

We'll put together a detailed estimate outlining the repairs needed and what they'll cost.

  3. 03

    Work With Your Insurance

We'll help you submit the repair estimate to your insurance company and work with your adjuster to address questions about the scope of repairs.

  4. 04

    Get to Work

Once the repairs are approved and scheduling is settled, we'll get to work putting your home back together.

  5. 05

    Final Walkthrough

We'll walk through the completed repairs with you, answer any questions, and make sure everything looks right.

A little more detail on each step

The same five steps, with a bit more about what happens in each one.

  1. Inspect the Damage

We'll come out and look at every room that was affected. If you have photos or notes from when the water was cleaned up, have them handy. They show us what was removed and what's behind the walls.

  2. Prepare Your Repair Estimate

Next, we'll write up the repairs room by room, from drywall and flooring to cabinets, paint and trim. You'll see what needs to be done and what it will cost before anything starts.

  3. Work With Your Insurance

If insurance is involved, we'll help you send the estimate to your insurance company and answer your adjuster's questions about the scope of repairs. If they already wrote up the repairs, we'll go over it with you and talk through anything that looks different.

  4. Get to Work

Once the repairs are approved and the schedule is set, we'll get started. We line up the work in a sensible order, like drywall before paint and paint before trim, so things keep moving.

  5. Final Walkthrough

When the work is done, we'll walk through every room with you. If something doesn't look right, tell us and we'll take care of it.

Reconstruction

What we repair

Once the water is dried out, here's what we put back together.

Drywall & ceilings

We hang, tape, texture and paint new drywall so the repair blends in.

Flooring

We replace floors that couldn't be saved and match what's left as closely as we can.

Cabinets

Kitchen and bath cabinets, vanities and the trim that goes with them.

Painting

Primer and paint once the walls and ceilings are back up.

Trim & doors

Baseboards, casing, interior doors and the other finishing details.

Whole rooms

When a room needs several kinds of work, we line it up and keep it moving.

Insurance

We'll work with your insurance adjuster

Most of these repairs involve a homeowners claim. We'll work with your insurance adjuster along the way, so you have one less thing to worry about.

  • We can help document the repairs and answer questions about the estimate.
  • If your insurance company already wrote up the repairs, we'll go over it with you and talk through anything that looks different.
  • We'll help you understand what needs to be repaired and what comes next.
  • Your insurance company decides what's covered. We can't promise approval, and we're not a public adjuster.

Questions about your claim? Call (913) 732-7220 and we'll talk it through.

Questions about the process

Short answers. There's more on our FAQ page.

Can I stay in my home during the repairs?

It depends on which rooms are affected. We'll talk it through when we look at the damage, and plan the work so you can keep using as much of the house as possible.

When should I call you?

Once the water is dried out and the wet materials have been removed, give us a call. We'll come take a look at what needs to be repaired.

What if something seems to be missing from the insurance estimate?

Let us know. We'll go over it with you, and if you'd like, we'll talk with your adjuster about the difference. Your insurance company makes the final call on coverage.
