What to Expect During a Water Damage Rebuild

Drywall hanging during a water damage reconstruction project

A rebuild after water damage is construction inside a home you may still be living in. Knowing the rhythm of the job makes the disruption easier to manage.

You should leave the evaluation visit with a written scope, a list of rooms and a contact for day-to-day questions.

Before work starts

We'll look at the affected areas, talk through what needs to be repaired and answer your initial questions. Ask where workers will enter and which rooms will be offline.

Confirm the structure is dry before finish materials arrive. We don't start until the scope is agreed.

Order of work

A typical order is: confirm dry and confirm scope, hang and finish drywall, prime and paint, set cabinets when they're in scope, install flooring, then trim and punch list.

Once the scope and scheduling are settled, we'll coordinate the repairs and begin putting your home back together.

Living in the home

It depends on which rooms are affected. Expect limited access to work rooms and weekday work hours. If a room is your only kitchen or bath, ask about that before demolition day.

We'll review the completed repairs with you and take care of the remaining closeout details at the end.
