Kitchens hold more water connections than almost any other room: the sink, dishwasher, refrigerator ice-maker line, and sometimes a pot filler or wet bar. When one of them leaks, water can spread under cabinets and flooring before anyone notices. Flood Rewind rebuilds water-damaged kitchens after mitigation, including cabinets, countertops, flooring, drywall, trim and paint.

A kitchen is hard to live without, so we plan the sequence carefully. Electrical and plumbing work is done by licensed electricians and plumbers. Cabinet and countertop lead times can drive the schedule, and we'll explain the timeline up front so you know when to expect a working kitchen again.

Signs you need kitchen water damage repair

Your kitchen may need repair if:

  • Cabinet bases or toe kicks are swollen, delaminated or stained
  • Flooring in front of the sink or dishwasher is lifting, cupping or soft
  • Drywall behind the refrigerator or below the sink was cut out during mitigation
  • Countertops had to be removed to replace damaged cabinets
  • Baseboards and trim along the cabinet run are swollen
  • Water from the kitchen damaged the ceiling of the room below

Our process after mitigation

Here's how we rebuild a kitchen:

  1. After mitigation: we start once the property's mitigation company confirms the area is dry.
  2. Document the kitchen: we record cabinet styles, sizes, countertops, flooring and appliances in a detailed estimate.
  3. Plan cabinets and counters: we help match or select replacements and coordinate countertop templating.
  4. Rebuild: we handle framing, electrical and plumbing first, then drywall, cabinets, countertops, flooring, trim and paint.
  5. Reconnect and review: we reconnect the sink and dishwasher and walk through the finished kitchen with you.

Insurance help

Kitchen claims often involve the most expensive items in a home, including cabinets, countertops and flooring. Matching matters: if only some cabinets are damaged and the style is no longer available, a partial replacement may not match. We document your kitchen in detail and work with your adjuster on a scope that restores it to its pre-loss condition. Gayle M.'s review below describes our work on a kitchen and half bath with her insurance company. See insurance claim reconstruction.

They dry it, we fix it

Flood Rewind is a reconstruction company. The property's mitigation company handles the dry-out, and once they confirm the structure is dry, we take over the rebuild.

What our customers say

"Jake worked with us on putting our kitchen and half bath back into shape after water damage from the upper floor. What a wonderful help he was, always ready to answer any questions, oversee the work being done, and bending over backwards to make sure we were satisfied with the outcome. Jake could always be counted on for having the job done right, working closely with our insurance company, and being helpful, friendly and full of integrity. I highly recommend this company and give it a strong 5 out of 5 star review!!"

Frequently asked questions

Can you replace just the damaged cabinets?

Sometimes. If matching cabinets are available, we can replace only the damaged boxes. If not, we document why a larger replacement may be needed.

Do you replace countertops?

Yes. When cabinets are replaced, countertops often have to come off. We coordinate removal, templating and reinstallation or replacement.

What flooring works best in a kitchen?

Many homeowners choose luxury vinyl plank or tile for durability and moisture resistance. You can browse options on our flooring page.

Can I upgrade my cabinets during the rebuild?

Yes. We'll show you the cost difference between what your claim covers and the upgrade.

Do you reconnect the dishwasher and sink?

Yes. Plumbing reconnections are part of our kitchen rebuild.

Can you repair the ceiling below a kitchen leak?

Yes. If water from the kitchen reached the room below, we repair that ceiling and any affected walls as part of the same project.
